On Wednesday 26th of October, our wonderful Women in DevOps community met to discuss the phenomenal rise of serverless cloud computing.
For our latest London meetup, we explored the disruption serverless has caused to the wider DevOps world, its impact on people, culture, and the future of organisations everywhere. With the help of our expert panellists, we unearthed the key opportunities (and the limitations) associated with serverless.
Key discussion points of the evening included:
💵 Serverless and its role in reducing cost
👩💻 Serverless acting as a gateway for entry into the DevOps space
🔐 How security and privacy can be a drawback for serverless
💻 The tiptoeing approach to serverless, and the impact this has on organisational culture
⭐ Skills shortage: utilising serverless bootcamps, programmes and initiatives
💡 Future predictions for serverless
Thank you to our fabulous panel Gbemisola Ojo, Emmanuel Pius-Ogiji, Kanesha Edwards-Taylor and our wonderful chair Siobhan OH Baker Baker for leading the conversation. We’d also like to thank the amazing Coding Black Females for collaborating with us on this event, and Slalom Build for being our hosts.
