Recap - Webinar #19: Black History Month - Proud to be in technology with Coding Black Females

This week we hosted our Black History Month Webinar in collaboration with Coding Black Females, titled ‘BHM: Proud to be in technology’. This month the webinar was a live Q&A between Cheryl Obiakpani from Coding Black Females and Monet Wright a Senior Customer Success Manager at Goodfynd

The live Q&A session saw the discussion explored how Monet got into technology and the importance of being your authentic self at work. Monet explained the importance of representation and that “diversity of thought, breeds innovation. You need to use your own voice to enable this – speak up for what you believe in.”  We then discussed owning the narrative in your career, where Monet described situations where she was the only woman in the room, and sometimes the only Black woman in the room. She proudly said instead of being uncomfortable in situations like these, individuals should try to embrace it and stand proud.

We would like to thank the fabulous Monet and Cheryl for their insights and a truly empowering discussion, as well as our wonderful platinum sponsor JFrog!  Missed the panel discussion? No worries. Catch up by watching our video footage above.

Even though the technology industry is progressive, there is more work to be done to achieve a truly inclusive workforce, together we can close the gap and drive change.
